In The Beginning...
Over 20 years ago Tom Nesbit founded Nezzy Surfboards. He grew up in San Diego California and has been surfing since the late 1960s traveling all over the world. As a youth he was constantly traveling up and down the coast spending great deals of time surfing in Baja. Throughout his life, Tom has been a craftsman. He's always had a great desire to work with his hands. This desire paralleled with his passion for surfing drew him to an obvious conclusion. He had determined that he would make surfboards!
Originally, it started out as a hobby. For many years he made boards only for himself and the closest of friends. Over the years Tom's first Nezzy's spread out all over southern California. His friends would sell the old ones to help pay for new ones and one thing just led to another. As his shapes increased in numbers so did the rising demand. By 1989, he was shaping boards professionally. He began picking up team riders and everything seemed to start falling into place. His greatest challenges were entailed in the constant growth in demand along with maintaining consistency and the duplication of boards which his team deemed "magic". Research and development was conducted all over the world including California, Hawaii, Indonesia, Tahiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and many more great surf locations. His close working relationship with his team riders and customers allowed him to utilize this R&D to its fullest.
Technology also came to the aid of Nezzy in its search for perfection. CnC Technology allowed surfboard manufacturers across the globe to maintain a level of consistency that was otherwise believed impossible to become a reality. This allowed Tom to fine tune his shapes and reproduce them with great precision. Another technology that Nezzy utilizes that is equally as important is our glassing technology. We use only the best materials available to produce a wonderful quality glass-job. We do this by contracting our work out to only the most experenced glass shops with some of the best history in the industry. The end result is top quality, high performance surfboards. We've got a board in our lineup for everyone, so try one!
